When Lady Whittle's plans for improving lecture run into trouble, she has no option but to enlist the assistance of her wayward butler Prune. With an entire company of two, a piano, a gramophone, a trunkful of costumes and some fearless liberties, they embark on a mission to educate and enlighten the masses, in no more than 100 minutes!

Many of the most popular operas in the repertoire are presented as never before in a high spirited show for all the family. Purists beware, but if you like the notion of an all singing, all dancing eight minute version of Wagner's Ring Cycle, then this is the show for you!

THE PRODUCTION
This flexible and self contained production is matched with lively and energetic staging. The production combines cabaret style presentation and on-stage piano with a simple backdrop, props and rapid changes of costume.

The Complete Works of Gilbert and Sullivan - Pruned
Set in Compton Winslade Memorial Hall, Whittle and Prune are attempting to perform the complete works, in cabaret style, in one evening. They are responding to a challenge from one of Whittle's friends. Prune's knowledge is invaluable in accomplishing the challenge successfully.

Crystal clear enunciation of both the spoken and sung word were only lost when drowned by audience laugher.

Brilliant characterisations added to familiar melodies, lyrics and scripts, plus some poetic licence put Whittle and Prune somewhere between Flanders and Swan and Hinge and Bracket.

This was a good night out.
